There are many forms of assessment I use in my classroom. The following is a brief summary of the types of assessment I use and how I will communicate this information to you. Formative assessment is a range of formal and informal assessment procedures done during the learning process in order to modify teaching and learning activities to improve student achievement. Below you can see some examples of how I conduct formative assessment in my class. Formative assessments will not be sent home, however my notes are always available upon request and will be used in determining whether or not a child has met the standard. Summative assessments are used to evaluate student learning, skill acquisition, and academic achievement at the conclusion of a defined instructional period-typically at the end of a project, unit, or program. They are often written and longer than formative assessments. These grades will be entered into infinite campus and the students work will be sent home or saved to put in their portfolios.
